I rarely write reviews but this experience was so appalling I felt the need to warn others as they are mainly catering to foreigners. We were a family of 8 with two very young children. We made this reservation a month in advance as a special final meal and advised them of the kids joining. Despite this, we were given only 1.5 hours for dinner, which may be policy but is a very tight, unrealistic timeline. The steaks were only brought out with 20 minutes left in our reservation.
As they were literally setting food down, staff told us we had to be out in 20 minutes. It felt rushed, stressful, and completely inconsistent with the kind of expensive dining experience they market themselves as offering.
One of the kids needed to be held, meaning one adult in our group couldn’t properly eat their meal. When we asked about taking food to go so the person who missed their meal could at least eat later since we were told to leave at a certain time, staff argued with us rudely and repeatedly insisted it was “against the rules,” showing little flexibility or empathy despite the circumstances.
For the absurd amount of money this meal cost, the experience felt shockingly poor: rushed service, bad timing, no accommodation for families, and an atmosphere that made us feel pushed out rather than welcomed. The overall experience completely undermined the food itself. We left feeling stressed, frustrated, and frankly ripped off. So many other wonderful restaurants in Kyoto at a fraction of the cost with great service, don't go here!
