FOR TRAVELERS: Something to be known, any restaurant or institution with a high number of reviews, its likely they are asking for reviews after service as did the staff here. If you want authentic good food i recommend asking locals. Google stars are a bit dual edged and can be biased. - just a heads up
The food
Kobe beef options
The kobe was cooked to perfection and they showed us the marbling and cuts before cooked, they asked for many pictures of the food and environment. The taste of the beef was immaculate and they offer a great selection in cuts.
Seafood options
Our chef overcooked our scallops and lobster, to the point my extremely polite mother asked them to remake it for us, which they did free of charge but it was very expensive for what we got. My advice: avoid the seafood here and stick with the beef.
The staff
Everyone was very friendly to tourists and they spoke decent enough english to order but be ready with your google translate: this is most places in japan though so no complaints. They helped us out with ordering and everything we needed. Our server was very polite
The environment:
The view was spectacular overlooking the mountains of kyoto, the interior was very clean and elegant and we had our own private room but the tabletop seating offers a great experience to watch your food being prepared.
Conclusion: beware of tourist traps with over 700 reviews and check for a surplus of english reviews. They offer a great beef selection but the seafood should be avoided. Great for a special occasion but not for everyone or everyday meals as our total was around 80,000¥ ~ 500$ for a family of 4.
